Pizza Day!

Our Bigs and Littles were extended a special invitation to Gourmet Gallery to join in a pizza cooking class!  The matches had a blast tossing around their dough, choosing their toppings and eating the final result of their work.  They made some fun creations!  A BIG thanks to Karyn Miller and Rachel Solano for a special afternoon, our matches really enjoyed the opportunity to visit with you.  And, another BIG thanks to our volunteer Sarah Lake for her photographing the event!

Meet Lisa Robertson, Our New Executive Director!

Lisa Robertson joined the Big Brothers Big Sisters team on August 16, 2011, which also happened to be her birthday, as the new Regional Executive Director.  She came to Big Brothers Big Sisters from the Bexar County Medical Society in San Antonio, Texas – the largest and oldest medical society in the country, where she served as the Non-Profit Director for the organization.  Lisa was very active in San Antonio, serving on the Board for the West San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, volunteering for Cattle Baron’s Ball, the Library Foundation, San Antonio Tourism Council, Bexar County Emergency Preparedness Committee and the International Committee, where she helped to foster solid relationships between San Antonio and their sister city, Kumamoto, Japan.  Lisa has also worked in the TV and Radio industry as the Visual Media Coordinator for Texas Lotus Communications, where she designed and developed web campaigns, and radio and TV promotions and contests.  Prior to that, Lisa planned weddings and corporate events for Norwegian Cruise Lines on the Pride of Aloha in Hawaii.  Why did she ever leave Hawaii, you ask?  She was homesick for Texas!   Lisa is thrilled to be back in Waco, and to be a part of such an incredible organization.  She believes firmly in the mission and values of Big Brothers Big Sisters and is excited to grow the agency and serve her community.  In her spare time, Lisa (tries) to play the drums and enjoys competitive skee ball.  Seriously.
